The effects of aging, stress, and sun damage can leave you looking tired and old. As you get older, the skin on the face begins to sag, and fine lines and wrinkles may develop around the eyes, mouth and forehead. While signs of aging are unavoidable, a face lift can restore a more youthful appearance to your face.
A face lift is a type of facial cosmetic procedure designed to smooth and firm the skin around the face and reverse the toll that time, sun exposure, gravity and daily stress have taken.
Sagging neck and jowls, as well as a "tired look," are treated with this surgery. The improvements are quite impressive. A variety of techniques for face lifts exist, and your consultation will determine which one is right for you.
Standard procedure calls for an incision to be made just inside the hairline, following the contour of the ear, and continuing under the earlobe to the underside of the ear and to the lower scalp. Excess skin is then removed, and the remaining skin is pulled back to the incision line, where the skin is stitched back together.
The rhytidectomy can take several hours, depending on whether any other facial procedures are being performed that day. During your consultation, the details of the surgery will be fully discussed and Dr. Hueneke can determine which technique would be most effective to achieve your desired result.
